Cleaning house before the new year....

Thought I'd throw some stuff up before 2014 flies by!
Nothin' big, just a few random pieces to share......

I doodled this when I was s'posed to be doing a paintover or layout or sumthing. Hah!

Couple misc. designs for Clone Wars Adventures...

One of the exploratory mood pieces I did while we were developing a giant shark game at Bottlerocket......

Check this out... Character design for Ooblah Dee Ooblah Dah for "Strawbeorryfields", the sequel to "YellowSubmarine" from the late '80's. Never got past pre-production.

Maori panda........ (forget what this was for.)

One of many designs for a title in early vis-dev at Sony.

And Have a Happy New Year Everbody!! ;D

IMAGINE FX Magazine

Thank you Imagine FX magazine for the massive article they did on us! It was great!
They included a couple interviews, one with me and also one with Johnson giving a tutorial.
And a big shout out to Garrett Hanna, who did a lot of the huge, beautiful full color illustrations you see, including the one next to my interview :)

Here are a couple of the actual pieces they used in the interview.....

Robin Williams.

I never met Robin Williams, but I was fortunate enough to get to animate a
bunch of scenes of the Genie for an Epcot Center attraction way back when.
I'll treasure that cassette tape with his Genie dialogue forever :)
His great talent and presence will be truly be missed.

Ia'Orana! Manava! :)

It's Heiva and Tahiti Fete season again!
So I thought I'd post detail from a painting I made for our Daughter
and a painting I made for an auction benefiting a good friend of ours.

And in the spirit of it all, here's a little clip of me and some of our friends from Tahiti jammin' around the dinner table at Maeva's house!
Wine, food, friends, music, more wine.... :3
Atia mai! Fa'a teniteni te hanahana 'o Tahiti! (forgive my crude orero Tahiti :P)
Mauruuruu no te haere ra'a mai!

GLEN KEANE VS. ANDY SERKIS......

Andy Serkis is a fine actor. But...
...there is no performance Mr. Serkis can capture that a solid CG or 2D character animator can't do or do better.
(Sory 'bout the photoshop mashup Glen ;P)
.....
On a side note, Glen Keane has made one of the most beautiful pieces of art I may ever see.
You can watch "Duet", for Google ATAP's Spotlight Stories here:

Countdown to WILDSTAR!!!

They said we could post some images of development art for our massively friggin awesome game WILDSTAR ONLINE releasing june 3rd!...BETA open NOW!!

I of course am not allowed to show you anything that you haven't seen already or that would ruin
any of the massive surprises in the game. So sorry, no final art (except maybe 4 pieces) or spoilers.
But here's at least a small taste or variation of what you may have seen already or will never see because it didn't make it into the game.....

Here's the latest ~

...BOOM!

It's basically a scrapbook of  development art from The Mark of Kri and it's sequel Rise of the Kasai!
All the warts and blemishes. It's not all pretty or well drawn, and it's just my work, but I still wanted to share the intent of what we tried to do. One of which was to bring positive attention to what would soon be known as "The 2D Aesthetic".

It's just a sampling of various character designs, layouts, storyboards, mock-ups, thumbnails, etc.

I wish I could fit more work in but it gets kinda $pensive ;P
Ideally, the powers that be could make a legit "art of" book with ALL the artists work in it ;)

I hope some of you like it. If you liked the games it's a cool companion piece.
It's 108 pages, full color. I'm asking $30.
Drop me message with your email if you want one.
I should have them from the printer around mid-April.
My good friend Stuart Ng will carry them as well ~  stuartngbooks.com/
